Questions and Answers

Real questions from real people wanting to study at Resonance School of Homeopathy

Q       What is the course duration?

A       The course at Resonance School of Homeopathy is ongoing. Classes meet in Reno, Nevada one weekend per month. The schedule is available HERE. The online course is ongoing and available to all students whether they come to the class or not. It is recommended that all students come to the live class as often as possible. The tuition is payable yearly. So a student gets to choose if they study for one , two, three, even four years or longer if they want. I find that most students feel ready to call themselves a homeopath and have the confidence after  four or more years of study.

During this time all prior cases, follow-ups, and lectures remain available for study or review. A student can really study at their own pace. Those students who are very motivated will be doing cases on their own. I will help any student who is stuck with a case they are working on outside of class. This is a mentorship program. We are training homeopaths. There is no better training than through experience.

Q       "Once I view the video of a case, what do you do with it?" On the web under the Distance Learning section you say, "
Each month classes will be released along with a study guide. What is the nature, form, content, whatever, of the study guide.

A       The study guide is the assignment. The assignments include the videos and reading assignments. The "what you do with the videos" is watch and get the feeling about the person. Take notes during the video of everything the person says. This you will be doing in all cases you work on. You need good notes. Consider what is asking to be healed. Consider particular symptoms that need to be repertised. You will start to get the hang of it naturally by watching and following the videos. I comment alot about the cases and you can use this information to help you learn to "see" the case. You will receive this guidance. If you get stuck you can email me, call me or wait with your questions for the teleseminar or put them on the blog/forum. You will not just be ignored. You will have the help you need to understand and start doing homeopathy. It is very experiencial.

Q     So...understanding what needs to be healed, repertorization, remedy selection, would all be reviewed in the teleseminars?

A     The teleseminars are not for the class content and videos only. This is a time that anything "homeopathy" can be discussed. The videos have all of the class discussion and comments about the case.

Q     I have a tendency to be rather rigidly logical, so perhaps I'm looking for someone to tell me the "right" solution as if this were a school assignment rather than real life; I realize that isn't what you do with your classes - but is it through the teleseminar that I discover if I'm at least on the right track, asking the right questions, discovering the most likely rubrics etc?

A      The video will be giving you this feedback.  The teleseminar seems to have evolved to more current topics and questions involving homeopathy, but absolutley is not limited to this. Class comments to each case and follow-up are in logical order within the videos. It will be easy for you to follow.

Q     When are the teleseminars?

A     The teleseminars are usually 2 weeks after the last live class and usually on Monday evenings at 5:30 Pacific Time. You will be getting an announcement and link at least a week before.

Q     The cases/videos for each year are set from previously recorded cases - is this correct? or is there some correlation with the cases presented at the monthly gatherings?

A     The school has been ongoing and with the same format since 2001. I teach using live cases, real people. In my humble opinion this is the only way to really learn to practice homeopathy. It is in the act of being the homeopath that one confronts his/her limitations and prejudice. You cannot learn this from a book. Since January of 2007 I have had many requests to study from people all over the world. Videotaping the classes and presenting this as an online program was the solution. So the online course starts with the new cases and lectures and builds from there. I did not include very many follow-ups to cases that the original case was not recorded. So in the beginning the course is a bit smaller than into the second year where there are up to 30 videos per class. All comments, lectures, cases and follow-ups are included. The class is filmed with 3 cameras and 3 sound systems linked to them. I personally edit all of the video for the best sound and image that protrays the class content best. This takes me on average 60 hours per month. Now you know what I do with my early morning hours.

Q      Every 30 days a new session is released?

A      All previously released sessions remain available to you through your enrollment. If you get to busy with life you can go back and pick up or return to a case or follow-up and restudy it at a later date. This allows you to proceeed at your own pace.

Q      What kind of guidance is offered?

A     I am available to all of my students to help them when they are stuck. We have a monthly teleseminar to ask questions that is recorded and a blog/forum to post questions. The blog/forum has not been as active since implementing the teleseminars. It seems the students like this best. You can participate on the phone or listen to the webcast on the internet and post questions there as well. They appear on my screen and I address all questions before the call is concluded. They are scheduled to last 90 minutes but often go over. The only assignments are for reading and Organon quizes. These are not graded but if they are emailed to me , I review them and make comments.

This is a self motivated program. If a student does not have enough desire to approach this program without being given time limits and grades to succeed, then it is probably not the program for them. There will be no one holding hands when the person wants to go out and become a practicing homeopath. This is the best way to get the experience and be your own self with homeopathy. The critical decisions of selecting rubrics, understanding what is asking to be healed and selecting remedies, need to be done with confidence. There is no better way to get this than seeing and working on cases.

Q     How rigid is the "month"? Can you actually take as much time as needed over an assignment (within reason)? Or maybe delay the next assignments by a month. I'm a pretty high-energy person, but sometimes life just overtakes you and you need to catch your breath.

A      If you continue from year one into year two all of year one remains available. This goes on the entire time of enrollment. During year four you would still have all of year 1, 2 and 3 available.

Q      I'm still a little puzzled about payment. I think you're saying that you couldn't handle unusual payment protocols because of technical limitations - am I right?

A     Yes. I have had nothing but trouble trying to implement custom payment plans from people. I will not do it any more. There are two options. You can pay a one time fee for one year of tuition (12 monthly sessions) of USD $2,700 - OR - be billed monthly USD $235.00 for 12 months. There is a one time fee of $35.00 at initial registration.

Q     I'm delighted by the spiritual aspect of this program. To what extent are the books required or merely suggested, and how deeply are these teachings interwoven into the coursework?

A    All assignments are suggested, not required. Again I do not evaluate by testing. This is why a person will get a certificate of hours of completion, not a diploma. I cannot give a good evaluation unless the student is in the classroom. This program requires a person to be self motivated. The reading of books on spirituality are to help the person get a bigger picture of life/homeopathy. Not all students have been exposed to these types of ideas. If they haven't then it will help them understand how homeopathy is referenced during the course. Spirituality is always the basis for the foundation of undersatnding homeopathy as taught in the course.

Q    How much do Scholten's and Sankaran's works figure in the early course work?

A     Because all teaching is with live clients it is a case by case opportunity to reference Scholent or Sankaran work as necessary. I do not teach their methods but use them when appropriate. There will be references to their work when they come up. I find that some aspects of their views are very valuable. But I encourage my students to not get stuck in any one way of thinking. This will keep them free to develop their own system that works for them. This way they can utilize all systems and use them according to the case at hand.

Q    My reading suggests that much of their work is very advanced and shouldn't be attempted before a good foundation is established, but I know some schools don't agree. I myself know nothing about either man's work, figuring I'd better stick to basics for a while! Would especially Scholten's Elements book be required for first year?

A   I teach what is appropriate. I see no reason to ever dumb down or simplify any approach to homeopathy. In the end it will be simple if held in truth. This is why I teach all levels the exact same way. If what is being shared is based in truth then it always applies. It doen't matter what level of homeopathic knowlege a person has. After doing this for as many years, I am convinced that it helps a person become a good homeopath far quicker and better than any other method.

Q    I'm pleased to see 6th Organon - I assume you teach LM's and watery prescribing?

A     I recommend mostly C potencies. Sometimes LM's and rarely X's but that does not mean never. I use all scales and all methods of applications, sublingually, in water and sniffing. Whatever the case requires is what is done. Remember this is not empirical medicine. This is "patient" driven medicine. The client will always tell you what they need.

Q    Your program sounds really interesting.  I have been looking for a more interactive program for several years.  Could you please give me a little more information about your homeopathic philosophy?  How closely do you stay aligned with Hahnemann's original writings (6th Edition).  Also, why are their spiritual books listed for year 1?  As a professing conservative Evangelical Christian would I have difficulties in your program?  I have studied homeopathy on and off for several years and I understand the concept of vital force and do not find that to be in conflict with my belief system.

A     We are studing the Organon 6th edition by Hahnemann and doing Classical Hahnemannian homeopathy, Single remedy prescribing. I include the essenses of Vega Rozenberg who  is my teacher. I have found then to be very accurate. This information has never been shared in written form and is only taught by Vega Rozenberg himself and myself with his permission. This is not a way of prescribing other than Hahnemannian but expands with information that has been discovered about remedies by Vega himslf. It is not a different system of prescribing.

As you might know Hahnemann refered to spirituality and homeopathy being spiritual medicine many times in the Organon. For some new students the idea of spirituality is new. I have included books about spirituality to bring more ideas for the student to really embrace homeopathy in it's purest form. The books on spirituality are not secular or religeous. Homeopathy is not about religeon. If you do not have a problem with the idea of the vital force and it does not cause any conflict with your belief system, I do not think any of the suggested books on spirituality will conflict either. If they do then it is your right to disregard this part of the teaching. I do not include much directly from the books in our course. It is really to help the students who are new to the idea of spirituality to get grounded in the idea of non-physical. I think you might actually enjoy the books.

Q     Are there assignments other than watching the videos and reading the required books?

A      The assignments include watching the videos, reading the Organon and other homeopathic books and books on spirituality. There are quizes of the Organon. There is also study for each of the cases and followups presented.
You will get the most from the class by working on the cases as they are presented. This means trying to determine what is asking to be healed for the person. selecting rubrics, and making remedy selections. It is your chance to work on cases and this will probably be the most rewarding part of the course and maybe the most demanding. When a new student starts out it can be a little challenging as they get oriented. This is natural. I find that after a few months things magically get alot easier and then  really start to flow. I have seen this in almost every student.

Q    I am extremely keen to pursue a qualification in homeopathy for animals but understand I need the basic grounding in homeopathy to start with. I have a degree in Animal Science already. Please could you advise as to whether you accept International Students (I'm based in the UK) either in situ or via distance learning, dates and duration of undergrad and post grad courses. Also, please could you give me an idea of fees.

A       Resonance School of Homeopathy accepts any student from anywhere in the world. The only requirement is that they have a very keen interest in Homeopathy and want to become the best homeopath the can be. All of our classes are videotaped and made available for the distance learning student. The teaching format is clinical. You will learn by doing homeopathy. In the first year there are 52 new cases to work on. This is the best way to learn to DO homeopathy. We also see animals in the class as well, though not as many.

The course is ongoing and you can start anytime. Each month a new session is released. The tuition is for one year (12 monthly sessions) You will need to reregister each year you wish to continue the course. Thetre are 4 years availble. Most students feel competent and ready to call temselves homeopaths and go out into the world after 3 to 4 years of study. The couse can be paid in one installment of USD $2,700.00 or 12  monthly payments of $235.00 There is a one time registration fee of $35.00 with each option.

I personally treat alot of animals and with the books available and my expertice as a homeopath I am very successful. The principles of treatment are the very same for an animal as they are for a human being. Animals are not any more difficult than people to treat.

Q    Are you Veteran approved?

A     Yes, all veterans are welcome but we are not accepting any veteran benefits since we are a private school and not recognised for federal funding. The same goes for any other federal or state scholarships. Sorry!

Q    Can I study this from Australia and still get my accreditation. Will this be recognized anywhere? Mainly Australia and Ecuador? Also can I do the classes in my own time as i have children? It says that the course goes for one year but you can practice within 2-3 years, can you please explain that?

A    You can study from Australia. I am unfamiliar with the local regulations regarding the legality of practicing homeopathy in your area. Our school is recognized as qualifying education by the North American Society of Homeopaths (NASH) an independent, non-licensing board in North America. All regulations regarding medicine happen at the state level in the USA. As each state is different; there is much confusion at times here. I do not know if you have a similar problem in Australia. I do not know about Ecuador. It seems that it is a poorer counrty and that any help would be appreciated.

The course allows you to proceed at your own pace. As long as you are enrolled you have access to all course material that has been released. The program is ongoing from year to year, but requires a yearly re-registration to keep it going. This allows people to study for as long as they want. Most students find that they are ready to go out into the world with confidence and call themselves a homeopath after three to four years.

The course work is released monthly. Every thirty days a new session is released with more new cases and follow-ups. This course is in a clinical teaching format. You will see 52 new cases in the first year alone. All follow-ups and class lectures are provided in an easy viewing edited video of the class. The best way to become a homeopath is by doing it and you will have more opportunity to work on cases and learn the ins and outs of being a homeopath. There is no other course in the world like this.

Our school cannot accomodate all of the different laws and regulations of different countries. But what we do offer is the best place to learn to be a homeopath. We are NOT teaching about homeopathy. We ARE training homeopaths. If becoming a practicing homepath is your goal then you have found the right place.

Q    Robert, what do you think about the Sensation Method?  I’m studying it right now at another school and not sure this is the right path for me.

A
I think the sensation method is limited. There is much truth in understanding this aspect of a persons experience, but to use this method requires the homeopath to make certain judgements about the client, thereby putting them in a box. I find that this is not a good habit to do because the homeopath will be forming prejudices to accomplish this. Not all cases are the same. What I teach includes understanding sensation, but does not have a method or protocol attached to it. If we are free homeopaths, as unprejudiced observers, the case will unfold and be revealed for us. We then do not need to speculate or put a person in a miasmatic box etc. The case will stand on it's own and if we are clear will know how to proceed accordingly. Homeopathy is not an empirical science. It is as much art and this is where proper training with real live people is essential to gving the homeopathic student real experience. It is about learning how to "see" the case. This cannot be taught by books, methods or any other system. It is something that is developed in a person. As Hahnemann described in the Organon, it is really about being an unprejudiced observer.
